I strive to expose materiality of artwork in digital and physical spaces by abstracting familiar forms, overlaying textures, and combining techniques from a variety of traditional mediums. My drawings, paintings, animations, and merchandise designs revolve around the Gestalt Theory of Visual Perception, the concept that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. They provide responses to the following question posed by art historian Christine Poggi:
Does painting function as an aesthetically pleasing object (a “table”) or an extension of reality (a “tableau”)?
My favorite mark-making mediums include charcoal, graphite, watercolor, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, and MS Paint.
