Vans Custom Shoes for
Partner Engagement

Overview

  • Client: Vans

  • Role: Mixed Media Artist

  • Timeline: Oct 2026 (4 hours)

  • Tools: Acrylic markers, ink

  • Project Brief: Using Vans white classic slip-on shoes as a canvas, create hand-drawn artwork around the theme “Do-it-Yourself (DIY)”.

Concept: Multitudes in Mobility

Vans exists in my mind as an iconic shoe and apparel brand that excels in building energy and community around action sports, music subcultures, and creative self expression. In order to capture this dynamism, I drew inspiration directly from lines and shapes quintessential to the brand.

Reimagined Design Patterns

  • Vans 1982 checkered pattern abstracted into digital pixels

  • Vans 1977 jazz stripe design alluded through ocean waves crashing onto the beach

  • Vans city of origin (Anaheim, CA) referenced through Southern Californian sunsets, beaches, and palm trees

  • Vans community of skateboarders and surfers captured as silhouettes

Special thanks to Grant Delgatty and Melissa Lonoza for the opportunity!
